Water: The Stress on Limited Water Supplies
Whether you are going to acknowledge it or not, you will have to agree with the fact that the conventional water supplies are faltering. There is a marked reduction in the water supplies all over the continents. Experts have already begun working on finding out the approximate quantities of the water present in the conventional sources. In addition, they have come forward with their findings - I am planning to highlight them in the rest of the passages. The reputed and acknowledged sources like the United Nations are willing to reckon the situation.A good share of the present population is still surviving without a proper access to potable water supplies. Various third world developing countries along with the inhabitants of arid regions like Africa are facing the same situation. The situation is genuinely ironic - while advanced nations are crying about water depletion, these nations are still bearing the brunt. Even on this era, certain groups of the population do not have access to water supplies that will keep them clean (let alone potable water). Water industry comprises of potable water generation along with an appropriate disposal of waste materials (sewage water).
Let us consider the situation that is currently prevailing in the developed nations. The inhabitants of these nations have had access to potable water and a good wastewater disposal system all throughout these years. Due to overuse of the existing water supplies, they are now facing the unthinkable.
Decrease in the levels of water will affect the ecological balance of the region. For instance, depleted water supplies will reduce the yield of crops (because of the absence of water levels in the soil). The livestock that depends on crops and vegetation will cease to exist. That includes humans and cattle. One factor will lead to the other until the region turns itself into an arid desert. Do not worry; by looking at the current rate of water consumption, the scenario mentioned in the previous statement is not too far away from us.
Another factor that will stress the already limited water supplies is pollution. Countless industrial establishments release poisonous gases. These gases travel to the higher layers of the atmosphere where it combines with the moisture. The same poisonous gases return to the earth in another form - rainwater. Rainwater will combine with the limited water supplies rendering them unusable. Now, how does that sound?
Water crisis - this is the term that denotes the stress on limited water supplies. Water crisis is building up at a dramatic pace. We will have to resort to methods and manners that will help in conserving the water present in limited supplies. Some of the developed nations have already begun acting in this direction. If you do not visit to afflict any kind of damages to the existing ecological balance, it is time to start acting today itself. Conserve rainwater and plant more trees to eliminate the high temperatures (that will lead to evaporation from existing water supplies). Together we must act and only then we will succeed.
